Assassin's Creep comes with a custom texture pack to give everything that Altair feel. But, as in the game it's not-so-subtly inspired by, there's also plenty of hidden feathers in chests about the map. Your job is to track down nine blocks of wool from the top of towers.
Where most offer a long string of linear platforming, Assassin's Creep is an open town full of rooftops to clear and spires to clamber up. They're either great or desk-thumpingly frustrating depending on your tolerance for losing huge chunks of progress after mistiming a ladder jump. Parkour maps are comprised of huge strings of jumping puzzles. While many older maps won't have the latest shiny features, you can bet your blocks that new ones will be rushing forward to pick up the latest tools and options. There are years and years of good builds to look through, though, and with Minecraft 1.20 coming-bringing everything from armor trim to brand new mobs like the Minecraft camel and sniffer-map makers are getting more and more toys to play with. Either way, there's plenty on offer if you're willing to go in search of it. It could be getting to play Doom in Minecraft (opens in new tab), or stroll around an exact replica of Mondstadt from Genshin Impact (opens in new tab). Some of these projects have been in the works for years, and alongside modding and texture packs, they let you reinvent your game with fresh scenarios.
